Jammu & Kashmir is the crown of India. A place of matchless natural beauty, it is truly blessed by nature. The hill resort of Patnitop situated 112 kms from Jammu in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir is one such destination. Located at an altitude of 2024 metres above sea level, the term Patnitop is believed to be originated from the phrase 'Patan da Talab' meaning 'pond of the princes'. According to legend there used to be a pond in this place where a princess used to take bath. This is the earliest recorded history of this place.

Patnitop Tour can be taken at all seasons. Winters (December to March) are best for skiing as the place gets covered with a blanket of thick snow. Summer (May - June) and autumn (September - October) months are cool and pleasant and ideal for picnics and other activities like trekking, hiking and other sightseeing activities. There are also a lot of festivals that is celebrated in Patnitop with much fanfare and joy. Some of the important festivals celebrated here are Lohri in the month of January, Baishaki in the month of April, and the Jhiri Mela, the Milad - ud - Nabi in the month of April or May, the Purmandal Mela, the Bahu Mela, the Eid - ul - Zoha and many other different religious festivals. Another major attraction of Patnitop tourism is its adventure sports. Paragliding, skiing, camping, trekking, pony rides are quite common here. Being a well known tourist destination the transport system is well organised. Buses and taxis are available for tourist to reach this place from Jammu/ Katra/ Udhampur. It takes 3 and half hours by taxi and about 5 hours by bus.
